Black iron oxide pigment, a colouring component chosen by shade, dispersion and the binder of the system. It gives coatings and construction formulations their black colour, and its technical grade is set by the binder system used.

Paint and coating formulators, construction-material producers and raw-material resellers buy it by the kilogram to tint concrete, mortar, paving or paints black. Because dispersion affects the evenness of the shade, it is usual to validate the result with a trial in your own formulation before full production.
