Chlorinated polyethylene, often shortened to CPE, is widely used as an impact modifier in PVC-based compounds, for example in profiles, pipes and sheets, and also in some rubber and cable formulations. Compounders and converters add it to the formulation before extrusion or other processing. Its effect depends on the grade, in particular on its chlorine content.
