Drill press with its motor and spindle on a vertical column, for straight drilling to a set depth. The column guides the drilling, so holes are square to the work and repeatable.

Mechanical, joinery and maintenance workshops use it to drill parts clamped on the table, with the depth set beforehand. The workpiece is held in a vice or with clamps, which improves accuracy and safety.
