Forstner hole saw with a carbon steel structure, in a plastic box, for boring flat-bottomed holes in wood.

A Forstner cutter of this kind bores round, flat-bottomed recesses in wood and boards, for instance to sink concealed cup hinges, locks or dowels. Joiners, kitchen fitters and cabinet makers mostly use it in a drill press, although it can also be fitted to a hand drill. The plastic box makes storage easier and protects the tool in transit.
