HSS 4341 steel step drill bit for the 4-12MM range. HSS, or high-speed steel, is a common material for step drills.

With a step drill, a hole is started and then enlarged in thin sheet metal, boards or plastic, from the smallest step of 4MM up to the largest of 12MM. Body shop technicians, electricians and air-conditioning fitters use it for cable, pipe or cable gland holes without changing tools for each diameter.
