Long-oil alkyd resin

Long-oil alkyd resin, a type with a high proportion of oil or fatty acids. It acts as a binder in industrial coating formulations.

Alkyds of this family generally give a flexible film with good levelling and slower drying, and they dissolve readily in hydrocarbon solvents. Paint and varnish formulators select them for finishes applied by brush or roller, for enamels and for primers. Resin and solvent are chosen together according to the film wanted and the application process.
