Methanol

Methanol (CAS 67-56-1) with a purity of 99.9 % minimum, a colourless transparent liquid, in a 160kg iron drum. Its stated values are a Hazen colour of at most 10 and a water content of at most 0.05 %.

Methanol is both a solvent and a basic building block of chemistry: it is used to produce formaldehyde, acetic acid and various esters, and goes into antifreeze and cleaning products. Laboratories, resin producers, formulators and solvent distributors buy it. The usual precautions for solvents of its family apply to handling and storage.
