PET resin (Carbonated Bottle Grade)

PET resin for carbonated drink bottles, with an intrinsic viscosity of 0.875 ± 0.015 dL/g. This polyethylene terephthalate (PET), listed for soft drinks and sparkling water, is bought by the kilogram, packed in 1100 kg bags.

Bottlers and preform processors use this type of resin for injection moulding followed by stretch blow moulding. Intrinsic viscosity reflects the molecular weight of the polymer and partly governs how a bottle holds up under the pressure of a fizzy drink. Like any PET, the resin is dried before processing.
