Short-oil alkyd resin

Short-oil alkyd resin, whose oil or fatty acid content remains low. It is the binder of coatings formulated for industrial use.

Alkyds with a low oil content generally give a harder film and faster drying, with less flexibility. They are often combined with amino resins for stoving paints, or used in quick-drying lacquers. The formulator adjusts resin, solvent and application process to the film required.
