Sulfurised isobutylene extreme-pressure additive for greases and gear oils under high load. The sulfurised isobutylene component serves extreme-pressure lubrication.

Under high load the oil film no longer keeps metal surfaces apart, and sulfur-based extreme-pressure additives react with the surfaces to form a protective layer that limits scuffing. Formulators of greases and gear oils choose it for heavily loaded applications. Sulfur activity and compatibility with metals and other additives are defined for the intended lubricant.
