Unsaturated polyester resin, whose reactive unsaturation allows it to harden by crosslinking. It finds its use as a binder in industrial coatings.

It hardens in the presence of a reactive monomer and a curing initiator system, following the principle used for polyesters in laminates, fillers and coatings. Formulators of varnishes and protective coatings that cure chemically choose it according to the film, the solvent compatibility and the application process.
