In industrial coatings, red pigment PR 3 supplies the red tint of the formulation. Its dispersion and compatibility are assessed against the intended binder and shade before any production run.

Industrial paint shops, formulation laboratories and pigment resellers ask for it to reproduce a reference red. The shade obtained is compared with a standard sample once the pigment is worked into the binder, since dispersion affects the result.
